As you may already know, heartworm is spread by mosquitoes, and it only takes one bite to infect your pet. According to the American Heartworm Society, the incidence of heartworm across the country is up, and North Carolina consistently ranks among the top 10 states in the nation for heartworm infection.
Sadly, many animals don’t show symptoms until the disease is well advanced, when it can result in heart failure, lung disease and death. Treatment is available for dogs, but it can be costly and hard on your pet.
Protection is the only way to prevent heartworm disease in pets and is significantly less expensive than treatment. That’s why during August and September, we’ll give your pet a free heartworm test ($40 value) with every exam! Plus, you’ll get 10% off heartworm preventatives Interceptor and Credelio when you purchase them at our hospital.
Don’t let your pet become one of the many heartworm cases we see here! For questions or to make an appointment for your pet, just give us a call at (704) 662-8586.
